troy

in the end, i thought it was a really good rendering of the story (knowing nothing about the iliad, of course). i was surprised how much of it was about achilles & hector, i thought they would be there more for show & action, but most of the drama was tied up in them. surprisingly little focus on helen, except at the very beginning. paris was mostly wishy-washy - even at the climax when he kills achilles, there was no great moment for him. cool battle scenes, and nothing went on too long, thankfully. also, the violence was not tremendously graphic, for which i was grateful. i like my violence rounded at the corners, to better enjoy the fantasy of it. reality in love, fantasy in war, that's my motto. soooooo many naked hip shots of brad pitt, sooooo close to seeing his winky, his beautiful perfect ass a vision in moonlight. eric bana ain't so bad, either - what a puffy chest! i thought the fashion was appropriate, not too overblown, and for a period piece with almost all male leads, i have to say, the hair was pretty good. brad seemed very natural, except maybe for his hairline, and everyone else was about the same, except for bana, and i really loved his long braided hair, it really worked for me. cool action, badass fight scenes, true love, chivalry, honor, and not too much bloodshed - i liked it ok.
